Some would say that the Dallas Cowboys had a fantastic offseason. In fact, anything less than an appearance in the NFC Championship game will be a disappointment. Though America's team lost fan-favorite Cole Beasley to the Buffalo Bills in free agency, the Cowboys added plenty of talent. Let's take a quick look at what might be in store for the Cowboys in 2019.
If you want your quick fix of 2019 fantasy football team names, scroll right down to the list at the bottom.
The Best 2019 Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Team Names: Offseason Additions on Defense
Dallas added veteran defensive end Robert Quinn. Quinn is approaching the 70 sack mark for his career. Quinn will start for Dallas on day one. Though the sack-master has been banged up throughout his career, he has been healthy enough to put up 15 QB takedowns across the past couple seasons in Miami. Quinn is essentially a poor man's DeMarcus Lawrence. However, his presence just might put the Cowboys' 2019 defensive line into the elite category.
Kerry Hyder, a nose tackle from the Lions, will join Quinn on the Cowboys' defensive line. Hyder will likely shift to defensive end in Dallas. It is certainly possible Dallas will have four defensive ends on the field at the same time when opponents face third and long. The arrival of d-tackle Christian Covington will bolster the defensive line even more. Covington weighs more than 300 lbs. Yet he played d-end last year in Houston.
It is clear Dallas will have a never-ending wave of d-lineman to rush the passer and stuff the run this season. However, the Cowboys' second and third levels on defense leave plenty to be desired. The secondary will receive a boost with the arrival of safety George Iloka. Though Iloka is not exactly Earl Thomas, he is a respectable player.
The Best 2019 Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Team Names: The Cowboys' 2019 Offense
On the offensive side of the ball, the Cowboys added Randall Cobb. Though Cobb's career fizzled the past couple seasons in Green Bay, he has a chance at redemption in Dallas. Cobb will likely see plenty of passes thrown his way now that Cole Beasley has departed for the Bills. Cobb, a solid route runner, might struggle to get separation on routes considering he is likely entering the last couple years of his career. However, Cobb matched Beasley's average of 2.9 catch point separation yards in the 2018 season.
Dak Prescott will benefit from the addition of Cobb as well as offensive tackle Cameron Fleming. Fleming is the fungible offensive lineman the Cowboys need. Look for Fleming to back up the Cowboys' starting left and right tackles. Last but not least is the return of tight end Jason Witten. Witten was an absolute flop as a Monday Night Football announcer. However, Witten stayed in shape and will likely shine in the 2019 campaign as a leader for the team. His days as a fantasy contributor are long gone.
The Cowboys offense should be one of the best in the league even though Beasley left for a monster payday in Buffalo. The rest of the Cowboys' offensive starters will return this season. As long as Prescott stays healthy, the Cowboys will undoubtedly be one of the best teams in the league.
The Best 2019 Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Team Names: Players Lost
In terms of offseason losses, Dallas bids adieu to the forementioned Cole Beasley along with tight end Jeff Swaim and defensive tackle David Irving. Dallas has clearly added much more this offseason than it lost. Let's take a look at how the schedule is likely to play out.
The Cowboys' 2019 Schedule for Fantasy Football
The Cowboys start the season with winnable matchups against the Giants, Redskins and Dolphins. Let's assume America's Team starts 3-0 then loses two to the Saints and Packers. The boys could easily win the next three against the Jets and Eagles making them 5-2 at the bye week. Additional wins against the Giants, Vikings, Lions, Bills, Bears and Redskins are likely. The Cowboys should finish the season with 11 to 12 wins, making them one of the top seeds in the NFC.
