#1 Pick Fantasy Football Draft 2017

Let’s take a second to be thankful for what you have.

Based on the fact that you’ve made it here, I’m guessing you’ve got the #1 overall pick in your 2017 fantasy football draft...or you’ve got one of the top picks this draft.

If either of those scenarios is the case, you’re sitting pretty. If you’re just reading to get an idea of what the top of your fantasy football draft might look like, welcome to the party.

The #1 Overall Pick for 2017 Fantasy Football Drafts

Okay, so I know right now it’s pretty early in the fantasy football offseason (I love talking football all year). Regardless, I’m going to breakdown 3 players that I think you can argue to pick at #1 overall.

If we’re being honest, you probably only want 1 or 2 guys at #1 overall (regardless of your league rules), but I like giving you options.

And by options, I mean guys that you can immediately give me shit about for even recommending in the comments.

But I digress.

So let’s take a look at some of the guys you should be considering for the first pick in 2017 fantasy football drafts.

2017 Fantasy Football Drafts ( League ADP’s to Evaluate)

For the record, I’m only including PPR and Standard 12-team leagues (Via Fantasy Football Calculator) here for you to evaluate. I don’t dabble in rookie or Dynasty as they’re two completely different beasts.

2017 Fantasy Football Draft - Pick #1 (Option A)

David Johnson

Number 1 Pick 2017 Fantasy Football Draft - David JohnsonOh David, you never cease to amaze.

It’s why you’re being considered at #1 overall by fantasy football analysts everywhere.

The general consensus is that it’s between Johnson, Elliot and Bell at #1 overall. Here’s why I think you need to go with David Johnson.

Pros: Great offense, great talent and arguably in the best position of the top 3 RB’s being considered.

Cons: You’re drafting him at his ceiling. It’s unlikely he goes for 300+ points and plays all 16-games again. It’s possible, just understand what the odds of him doing that 2 years in a row is.

Let’s look back at David Johnson’s stats to see why we like him as the #1 pick for 2017 fantasy football drafts.

This guy is a stud. Period.

Just look at the total yards, touches and fantasy points per game. It’s unreal.

I’m not going to sit here and tell you anything you don’t already know about David Johnson. He’s in a great offense, he’s going to continue to produce and most importantly; he’s healthy.

He’s the guy I’d take at #1 overall in 2017 fantasy football drafts. But again, that’s just my opinion.

Let’s explore some of the other options at #1 overall.

2017 Fantasy Football Draft - Pick #1 (Option B)

Le’Veon Bell

LeVeon Bell Number 1 Pick Fantasy Football Draft 2017

Le'Veon Bell is the heartthrob of fantasy football fans everywhere. I say that because there are countless fantasy addicts who have the 2nd or 3rd picks in drafts and they're just praying that you fall to them.

Don't let your ego get too inflated though, there is just as much hope and excitement for David Johnson to fall to the 2nd or 3rd pick. But I digress. I'm taking the spotlight off you and that's not fair.

What's there to say about Le'Veon Bell being the #1 pick in 2017 fantasy football drafts? A ton of good and a tiny little bit of bad.

Pros: When he's on the field he's a freaking stud. Don't believe me? Let's look at the stats.

Cons: He misses games. Not saying it's his fault (always), but he's missed time that has hurt fantasy owners. He missed 8 games in 2015 due to an MCL and PCL tear and he missed 3 games due to a suspension in 2016.

Total STUD.

Look at 2015 and he had one game under 17 fantasy points (I don't count week 8 as he had 7.8 points in only 1.5 quarters of play).

Look at 2016 and he was never in single digits with the exception of the games he didn't play.

It basically comes down to this, he's a slam dunk kind of pick. I hope Big Ben stays healthy, as that's the one piece here that I think keeps Bell slightly less of the slam dunk than Johnson at #1 overall.

The #1 Overall Pick for 2017 Fantasy Drafts

Back when I started writing this article I wanted to include Zeke in my numbers and analysis because I thought considering 3 guys at #1 overall was the right thing to do (I even wrote that I would compare 3 of them). As I started digging into everything, I realized that I didn't need to include Zeke at all. I don't think he should be considered as the #1 guy, especially in a PPR league. So I left him out completely (Sorry Zeke).

I said it earlier in the post and I'll repeat it for good measure: David Johnson is my guy at #1 overall.

I almost swayed myself over to the Le'Veon Bell club as I dug into the stats, so that should show you how close these guys really are.

At the end of the day I believe they'll both be studs and that you can't go wrong.

If you're holding the #1 pick in the 2017 fantasy football draft in your hands, choose wisely.

Your season depends on it.
