The Arizona Cardinals have a fresh face for 2019. Kyler Murray will lead the birds in what will likely be a surprisingly successful season. Though Murray is diminutive in stature, he is absolutely electric with the ball in his hands. Murray takes over for Josh Rosen, a middle-of-the-road quarterback who struggled behind a below-average Cards' offensive line. Thankfully, Murray will have Larry Fitzgerald to throw to. Though Fitz is 36-years-old, he is still sure-handed, a fantastic route runner and most importantly, a leader in the locker room.
2019 Arizona Cardinals Fantasy Football Preview: Offseason Additions and Departures
The aforementioned Murray is the Cardinals' top addition for the 2019 campaign. Though the Cards lost wide receiver J.J. Nelson, the aforementioned Rosen, quarterback Mike Glennon, offensive lineman Mike Iupati, and linebackers Gerald Hodges and Deone Bucannon, the team made plenty of important additions.
Newcomers include tight end Charles Clay, linebacker Terrell Suggs, offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert, cornerback Robert Alford and guard J.R. Sweezy. Aside from Murray, Arizona also drafted cornerback Byron Murphy, wide receiver Andy Isabella, defensive end Zach Allen and safety Deionte Thompson and wide receiver KeeSean Johnson.
2019 Arizona Cardinals Fantasy Football Preview: There is Hope for the 2019 Campaign
Though plenty of NFL analysts expect the Cardinals to finish last in the NFC West this season, those who truly understand football anticipate the Cards will compete for a playoff spot. Do not be deceived by Murray's lack of size. Murray comes from good bloodlines: his father, Kevin, was also a quarterback at Texas A&M. Murray has superior hand-eye coordination. The two-sport superstar is a surefire bet to be a perennial Pro Bowler.
It will certainly help that Arizona has an array of talented wide receivers in the fold. Andy Isabella could have easily been drafted in the first round. KeeSean Johnson might not be as good as the superstar wide receiver he was named after yet he should put up solid numbers, possibly even in his rookie season. The icing on the cake is the fact that David Johnson will carry the rock in the backfield. If the offensive line holds up, the Cardinals should be a top 10 offense in Murray's rookie year.
The defense is another story. Though the Cards added T-Sizzle (Terrell Suggs), there is no guarantee Patrick Peterson will be able to lock down opposing receivers without the assistance of the Honey Badger (Tyrann Mathieu) who departed for the Texans last season, Antoine Bethea, Gerald Hodges, and Deone Bucannon. The absence of these defensive stalwarts will likely result in some high scoring affairs that prove entertaining yet also have the potential to result in double-digit losses. However, hope remains. If the Cardinals are at .500 after the first six games, Peterson's return from suspension just might help the team contend for a playoff spot.
2019 Arizona Cardinals Fantasy Football Preview: A Quick Look at the Schedule
Die-hard NFL fans will testify average teams can easily make the playoffs if the schedule falls in their favor. The Cardinals have one of the easiest schedules in the league as they finished with the worst record of all 32 teams last season. The Cards start out with a winnable matchup against the Lions. Suggs will lead the Cardinals into a matchup with his former team, the Ravens, in week two. Though the Cards will likely be underdogs against the Panthers in week three, a victory is not out of the question.
Let's assume the birds lose to the Seahawks, win against the Bengals and falter against the Falcons. The team could easily be 3-3 after week six. Peterson's arrival in week seven might catapult the Cards to a victory over the Giants. Other winnable games include matchups against the Buccaneers, the 49ers and Steelers. It is certainly possible the Cardinals finish with an 8-8 or possibly even a 9-7 record. One thing is for certain, the Cardinals games will be quite exciting thanks to the arrival of Kyler Murray.

For the record, I never actually played football. I have no doubt that I would get crushed running across the middle for a pass, every single time.
